Rhizome, New York, USA
Rhizome is dedicated to the creation, presentation, preservation, and critique of emerging artistic practices that engage technology. Through open platforms for exchange and collaboration, our website serves to encourage and expand the communities around these practices. Our programs, many of which happen online, include commissions, exhibitions, events, discussion, archives and portfolios. We support artists working at the furthest reaches of technological experimentation as well as those responding to the broader aesthetic and political implications of new tools and media. Our organizational voice draws attention to artists, their work, their perspectives and the complex interrelationships between technology, art and culture.
Union der Helden
The Union of Heroes! In early 2007, we developed the idea for a team of superheroes from Germany. And it didn’t take us long to figure out a matching title. Where else could we place the cradle of our Union of Heroes than in the Ruhr Area? This is where we live und work, this is where we know our stuff, this is where our first story had to take place.
With this project, we – Eric Wünsche and Arne Schulenberg – try to live our dream.
Disregard for a moment that this is a comic! Ignore the fact that it is a photographed one! And don’t be surprised that our heroes experience their adventures here in Germany – and not in America, England, France, Japan or where else they usually do!
Please close your eyes for a moment and imagine what it would be like: Superheroes!
In the Ruhr Area! We would like to tell you their stories. And we are certain you will like them. So, draw the curtain: The time has come for new heroes! Welcome to the Union of Heroes!
Have fun reading!
